Summertime’s here (finally!) and to celebrate we’re mixing, freezing, scooping and licking – it’s all about ice cream, people! Here’s a gallery of some of our winning takes on this hot weather treat. Click through the recipes, pick a fave, whip it up and then click a pic before you lick. We want to see what you’ve made. Single, double, triple scoops or banana splits, from frozen yoghurt to salted caramel sauce to Mexican Sundaes, make the recipe and then go crazy with creativity. I was recently in the market for a tub of vanilla ice cream but after 15 minutes in the grocery store’s frozen section (where I read practically EVERY label), I left empty handed. Why? Because I couldn’t recognize much past 'sugar' and 'cream.' So I decided it was time for homemade – the old school way (read: no fancy ice cream maker)

If there’s one thing my freezer is never lacking in, it’s popsicles. But because so many of the frozen treats out there are filled with gunk (a mix of garbage and junk), we typically make them from scratch. And Chatelaine’s cherry-cheesecake pops, from the Summer’s Best cookbook, is hands-down our new fave summer treat!

It’s been a lovely, but busy, week around my house. With me taking an extra week off of work and having my two children underfoot, we had numerous sunny summer activities lined up.
