If the contents of your makeup bag haven't changed in the past five years, it's time for an overhaul. The differences in the newest colours and textures alone will give your skin a subtle yet noticeable fresh glow. Here are five tips to get you started:
Check a magazine for the latest looks.
New spring makeup features lots of colour. One shot of pink or lavendar in a new lipstick, or a green or blue eyeliner may be all you need to freshen up your favourite neutrals.
Colours should change with the seasons, hair colour switches, and as you age.

If you've recently gone blonde or silver, for example, you'll need to update your kit with softer colours.
Make a big change with just one feature.
If you always wear a neutral brown-based pink lipstick, choose red or a glossy rose pink instead. If you stick to earth-tone eye shadows, branch out with a soft grey-blue or warm coral.
Try some new textures for spring.
Instead of foundation with a powder finish, lighten up your base with a tinted moisturizer. Replace your favourite cream lipstick with a soft gloss. Or try a cream blush instead of a powder to achieve a softer youthful glow.
