July is the perfect time to go cherry hunting - you'll find them everywhere from farmers' markets to grocery stores (and most importantly, they're inexpensive!). When cherries are in season, they're sweet, juicy, and oh so easy to eat. Some days I can sit on my balcony and eat an entire pint of cherries in one sitting! The good news is, cherries are considered a "superfruit" and are high in antioxidants. The cherry's less available cousin, sour cherries, even contain some natural melatonin to aid in sleep.

Sweet cherries are best eaten raw or with minimal cooking. Try them in some of these great recipes:

1. Substitute sweet cherries for tomatoes in this fruity cherry basil bruschetta

2. We all know fresh, luscious cherries make divine desserts. But they also add a wow factor to savoury dishes like this curried cherry chicken and cambozola-topped steaks with cherry sauce

3. Who doesn't like homemade popsicles? Our cherry cheesecake pops are inspired by our recipe tester, Kristen's, childhood treat. And the best part? They don't melt, so they make a perfect potluck dessert.

4. Imagine pitting fresh, ripe cherries and tumbling the juicy pieces over a summery dessert. Make it this weekend with our recipe for two-tier pavlovas with summer fruit or classic cheesecake.
