Jennifer Lawrence is a married woman! The 29-year-old Oscar winner tied the knot with art dealer Cooke Maroney, 34, in a truly star-studded affair. Here’s everything we know.
Saturday, October 19, at the magical hour of dusk.
Not quite, but basically. The wedding and reception were held at Belcourt Mansion in Newport, Rhode Island. It was designed by Richard Morris Hunt, the architect who made the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s iconic façade, and was inspired by Louis XIII’s Versailles hunting lodge. While it used to be a wealthy businessman’s summer “cottage,” it’s now owned by Carolyn Rafaelian, the founder of jewelry brand Alex and Ani. Oh, and you can tour the place.
A lot of guests reportedly stayed at Gurney’s Newport Hotel & Spa nearby, and the couple themselves stayed at a rental house a few miles away from Belcourt.
There were about 150 people there, and the place was packed with A-listers. According to E!, Lawrence’s celeb BFFs Emma Stone, Adele and Amy Schumer were there, along with her official favourite Kardashian Kris Jenner and her boyfriend Corey Gamble. Ashley Olson, Nicole Richie, Joel Madden, Cameron Diaz, Benji Madden, Sienna Miller and David O. Russell (the director of Silver Linings Playbook) also came through.
Could a Dior ambassador wear anything but Dior? Reportedly, it was long-sleeved and bejewelled, and she wore her hair up with a few strands of it let down to frame her face. The style sounds a lot like her engagement dress, shown above. Maroney had a Dior tux to match, because of course he did. We don’t have the pics yet, but the gown was probably gorgeous enough to make you forget her suspicious Amazon gift registry.
The rehearsal dinner on Friday night had a clam bake, which is already pretty fancy. On the big day, according to E!'s source, “all the food was prepared outdoors with wood roasted fish and heirloom roasted carrots and squash as part of the menu.” And there were food trucks at the afterparty. Yes, food trucks. People reports that these served burgers, lobster, chicken sandwiches and fries. Apparently, the food truck owners didn’t even know they were catering J. Law’s wedding, though the paparazzi swarming the place gave it away once they arrived.
Honestly, it looks like this was the party of the year (if you’re rich, famous and friends with Jennifer Lawrence). E! reports it was fall-themed, with decor ranging from copper mugs to dark flowers and baskets of apples.
Security was tight, and there were guards, blackout screens and fake hedges to try and protect the newlyweds’ privacy. Paparazzi didn’t stop everyone from having an amazing time, though—guests reportedly stayed and danced until the wee hours of the morning, with Lawrence and Maroney being the last to leave around 5:30 a.m. on Sunday.
