I have a lot of degrees — I spent the bulk of my 20s at school earning them, scraping by on scholarships and extra money I earned through a string of part-time jobs.

The cardio-heavy payday shuffle is the norm for millions of Canadians who struggle to stay on top of their bills and expenses, but for young families the physical and emotional strain may be even greater. And according to a recent report nowhere in the nation is that more true than in the province of British Columbia.

But one new study suggests that there’s a little more to getting to the altar than love and sex. That other oh-so-important factor: financial stability.

I love watching the CBC’s Dragon’s Den largely because of how good Kevin O’Leary is at telling people when their business ideas are crap. He’s a master at relaying the cold, hard truth to people, even when it makes them cry and stomp their feet.
