Ingredients

  • 6 kaiser or hamburger buns

  • 2 tsp canola oil

  • 1 small onion, diced

  • 1 small green bell pepper, diced

  • 3 garlic cloves, minced

  • 450 g lean ground beef

  • 2 1/2 tsp chili powder

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 1 cup passata

  • 1 cup canned no-salt black beans, drained and rinsed

  • 3 tbsp ketchup

  • shredded cheddar cheese, (optional)

  • sliced pickles, (optional)

Instructions

  • PREHEAT oven to 400F. Place buns, cut-side up, on a baking sheet.

  • HEAT oil in large frying pan over medium. Add onion and pepper and cook, stirring until softened, 4 min. Add garlic and cook 1 min.

  • ADD beef, chili powder and salt. Cook, breaking up with wooden spoon, until browned, 5 min. Stir in passata, beans and ketchup and cook, stirring until thickened, 4 min.

  • TOAST buns until browned, 4 min. Divide beef mixture among bun bottoms. Top with cheese and pickles then, bun tops.
