Smooth sailing

I'm going on a cruise for the first time and don't know what to pack. Do I need to bring an evening gown?
Workout wear for your body
I love to exercise, but can never find athletic clothes to fit my large frame. I end up wearing baggy shorts and an oversized T-shirt. Where can I find athletic clothes that I won't be embarrassed to sweat in?

Nobody likes to shop around for spandex. Luckily, there's an easier way to find athletic gear. Check out www.leotards.ca, a Canadian website that offers custom-made workout gear, plus dancewear, yoga, even underwear to fit your specific shape and size. Just choose an item (you pick the style, colour and fabric) then input your measurements and within three weeks, your new workout wear should be at your door. TIP: For bottoms, stick to solid colours and pass on prints.

A coat for two seasons
I'm looking for a coat that can easily transition from fall to spring. Any ideas?

A leather jacket is a great investment. It's a classic yet stylish between-seasons option that offers warmth for those cool days (it's great for shielding you from the wind) and just enough breathability for warm days. Look no further than Canadian retailer Danier for a collection of leather blazers, motorcycle jackets and other toppers in various shades (my two favourites for spring are their white leather blazer and figure-flattering mint green motorcycle jacket). Other colour options include pink, yellow, navy and turquoise. Prices range from $299 to $449.
Visit www.danier.com for availability and store locations.

It's a cinch
My waist size fluctuates throughout the month and I'm not sure of the right pant size to buy. I don't want to wear an elasticized waistband. Help!

Put your elastic waistband shopping on hold. Choose pants with belt loops and buy them one size larger than usual (for example, if you're normally a 31, opt for a 32). When your waist size shrinks a bit, a belt is the perfect accessory to rein in your favourite pants. And, since spring is the season of accessories (belts being on the top of the list), there are many to choose from. Braided leather, mock croc, leopard or snakeskin are just a few stylish choices to wrap around your middle. Check out Le Château, Gap, Banana Republic, Holt Renfrew and the Bay for some of spring's best.

I'm going on a cruise for the first time and don't know what to pack. Do I need to bring an evening gown?

Your wardrobe needs depend on the type of cruise you'll be taking. Call first to find out if dinner is a dress-up affair. Usually, there is a main dining room where men may be required to wear a tuxedo or dark suit to dinner. If this is the case, you'll want to bring an evening dress. Most cruise ships also offer an alternative casual dining room where dress codes are more relaxed and you can get away with a summer dress or nice pant and shirt combo. Also, you should check out the activities offered on the ship. If you'll be playing tennis or rock climbing, you will want to pack the appropriate attire.
