While I feel like this is one trend that men will really hate, I think these shoes can look fantastic when worn with the correct outfit. A pair of riding pants, drop-crotch jodhpurs, or tapered dress pants, even skinny jeans can make these look hip. Beware, they can go very, very wrong. But certain women have pulled them off with flirty dresses and I think the juxtaposition looks rockin'. These ones are from Aldo, but Spring has some sweet patent ones coming out for fall as well.
One- Shoulder DressesI literally gave one of these away last year because I figured it wasn't coming back into style. SIGH. I should make like Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen who apparently never throw anything away. Good idea if you have the money to pay for storage space. Or you are organized enough to find things again. I digress. One shoulder mania hit the runways and BCBG does this best. I love the floral applique playing up the one side but a simple one does wonders as well. Mix up your old cocktail dress with one of these and you'll thank me when the compliments come rolling in. Tapered Dress Pants I'm obsessed. I just snagged a pair of these at Joe Fresh Style this weekend and I love them. They'll tuck nicely into boots and also work perfectly with flats or heels. I used to loathe dress pants for the fact that they were always too wide, you were forced to wear them with heels and they were always droopy and drab looking. Yay for fitted pants that work as leggings. This is a welcome trend. And you'll look like Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany's to boot. I like them with ballet flats but a big pair of metallic heels is great for nighttime. Bright Tights
Still love these even though they were very "in" last season. I think that Gossip Girl really turned me on to them. (Yeah, that's right. I emulate the styles of girls in private school. I'm aware of the irony.) Try ones from Secret, Hue, American Apparel or Dim for great selection. And make sure to wear this with neutrals unless you're super adventurous. I just put them with black or grey, as per my usual fall colours. Here's the first half of my list. Stay tuned for the other half tomorrow!
