The essential manhattan



2 Servings


  • 4 oz rye
  • 4 oz sweet vermouth
  • 4 drops Angostura bitters
  • lemon peel twist or maraschino cherries , for garnish


  • Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice cubes. Add 4 oz rye, 1 oz sweet red vermouth and 4 drops Angostura Bitters. Cover and shake vigorously until very cold. Strain into 2 highball glasses. Garnish with a twist of lemon peel or a few maraschino cherries.

Bartending Tip:

Use fresh ice and rinse out the shaker before making the next batch.
