Bring eggnog to the breakfast table with buttery, sugar-sprinkled scones.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar

  • 1 tbsp baking powder

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg

  • 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cut into cubes

  • 3/4 cup Classic Homemade Eggnog (recipe below)

Instructions

  • STIR flour with sugar, baking powder, salt and nutmeg in a large bowl. Work in butter until crumbly. Pour in eggnog and stir until just mixed. Pat dough into a 1-in.-thick circle. Cut into 8 triangle-shaped scones. Arrange 1 in. apart on a baking sheet. Bake at 425F until golden, about 15 min.

There’s something deeply satisfying about the ritual of making eggnog from scratch. It’s creamy and rich, with just the right amount of spice and a silky texture that puts the carton stuff to shame. Recipe developer Jennifer Pallian's custard-style version includes gently heating the eggs beforehand. Get our classic homemade eggnog recipe.
