Organize your closet, and you've organized your life! OK, so that may sound like an ambitious claim. But your closet is probably the first and last place you visit each day. Having a space that's well-organized and tidy will showcase your favourite personal items and make outfit-hunting hassle-free. You'll feel relaxed and in control – instead of frustrated and harried – every time you reach inside.

Before you can start organizing, you'll need to clean. Divide your clothes, shoes, accessories and any odds and ends into piles that you will keep, repair, trash, sell or donate. Now that you know what's in and what's out, it's time to reassemble your dream closet. Roll your mouse over each section of the closet to get tips from Kathy Dennis, a professional organizer and president of Heritage Organizing in Markham, Ont., on how to enjoy a clutter-free space that'll keep you looking sharp.
