Makeover mania

By Kate
What's your favourite makeover movie? I don't know what it is about these kind of films but on a lazy Friday night when all you want to do is veg out, there's nothing better. I just love seeing someone go from frumpy to fabulous. And as we're working on our latest transformations in the magazine for our amazing new style and beauty pages I thought I'd share a few of my all-time favourite revamps: She's All That –  Don't you just love the scene where she comes down the stairs to that cheesy song? She looks fabulous and of course the cute Freddie Prinze Jr. helps. Pretty Woman– While some may protest the concept of this movie you've got to love Julia Roberts' shopping experience. "Big mistake, HUGE!" Dirty Dancing –  She doesn't exactly go from drab to fab but she really comes out of her shell. And gets to do a dance off with the young and cute Patrick Swayze.  Clueless – Besides lusting after Cher's closet, her remake of Brittany Murphy is priceless. Did anyone else wear knee-high socks with mary janes in the 90's? Guilty as charged.  The Devil Wears Prada –  How one would ever be hired to work at Enchante (ahem Vogue) looking so unfashionable is beyond me. I picture their offices like ours on fashion energy drinks – intense.  So I loved that she was remade in designer duds. But borrowing from the fashion closet? That so doesn't happen. Also, this movie teaches you that a horrible demanding boss will likely destroy your life, but you should never let it destroy your style. My Fair Lady – A new accent, a new leading man and of course new flouncy dresses. Who doesn't love 'Enry 'Iggins and Eliza? Pretty in Pink – Her prom dress is shockingly bad and yet gorgeous if you put it in perspective of the '80s. (Except has anyone noticed that a lot of the other prom dresses in the film are semi-classy? I know.) Never Been Kissed – I mostly just love Drew Barrymore who herself has undergone countless transformations and the idea that journalists are so helpless with style. And now the real question, what are your favourites?  – Kate Daley
