Fashion's Night Out

I'm sure you've all heard about Fashion's Night Out. If you've been reading the September issues of the big American glossies (not to name names) then you'll no doubt have read about this effort to stimulate the fashion industry during the recent tough economic times. In over 13 countries, retailers will be taking this opportunity to restore consumer confidence and host in-store events and special extended hours. (Thank goodness. Now I can go finally do some serious shopping during my erratic hours.) Many stores are taking part and one of the big ones is The Bay. Today there will be extended store hours as well as makeovers, fashion shows, special gifts with purchase, prizes, raffles and workshops. You can also get the chance to check out some of your favourite designers in person. (The Bay is bringing on some awesome new brands as well if you want to check out Juicy Couture, Pink Tartan and Barbie by David Dixon. Love the grown-up Barbie styles on the left.) "As Canada's leading fashion department store, we are very excited to be included in this global event along with retailers like Saks Fifth Avenue, Bloomingdale's and Lord & Taylor, designed to stimulate the retail and fashion industries," said Bonnie Brooks, CEO at The Bay. "It's time to get Canadian consumers excited about shopping again and we're the only retailer in Canada participating." I couldn't agree with you more Bonnie. The stores taking part today are:

Toronto, ON ' 176 Yonge Street (Queen Street)

Toronto, ON ' 44 Bloor Street East (Bloor Street)

North York, ON ' 3401 Dufferin St. at Hwy #40 (Yorkdale Shopping Centre)

Ottawa, ON ' 73 Rideau Street (Rideau Centre)

Montreal, PQ  585, rue Ste-Catherine Ouest

Calgary, AB ' 200-8 th Avenue South West (Downtown Calgary)

And while you might be heading out just to pick up a new lipstick or eyeliner you can also join the Fall Beauty Cosmetic gala. This lovely ticket gives you $8 off your first purchase of fragrances, jewellery and cosmetics and you'll get a load of other vouchers that you can redeem today. Plus, two dollars of every $10 ticket are going towards the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. And it starts today at noon so get moving if you want some deals! It's kind of cool to think that you're part of a global event, even if it is just picking up a new outfit for the weekend. As if we needed another excuse to shop.
