Eight tips to get you party-ready in minutes

With party season in full-swing no one has time to rush home to get gussied up. Read on for our best time-saving style tips

Instant updo
If your hair is far from party-perfect, a simple updo is your best bet. Make a deep part, grab a bejeweled hairpin to hold it in place and gather your hair into a neat low bun. Smooth any fly-aways with a bit of shine serum to give your locks a gloss and you’re out the door in no time.

Eye candy
Nighttime looks are all about the eyes. Instead of your typical dramatic smokey effect — which takes time, energy and superior motor skills — opt for a rich line of black liquid liner and two coats of black mascara. Make sure to curl your lashes first, which helps to open up your eyes and make you look more awake.

Luxe lips
Once you’ve got your simple but elegant eye look down pat, it’s time to really put on your party face. During the holiday season you can be daring when it comes to colour. Choose a deep purple-y or orange-y red lip colour to stay on trend but make sure to slough off any dead skin with a toothbrush first and apply a light balm to keep lips hydrated before slicking on your shade of choice.

In the bag
Don’t lug your giant work tote to your next soirée. You’ll dress down whatever you’re wearing and surely knock over someone’s cocktail. Transfer your lipstick, powder, credit card and cell phone into a dainty clutch and leave your day bag in coat check.

Perfect pair
If you’ve been running around all day in your ballet flats, now’s the time to break out the sexy stilettos. Have some fun and try a pair with a front platform and fun detailing. Keep them in your work tote or save a pair under your desk for any impromptu post-work affairs.

Make a statement
No matter how basic your ensemble, if you load on a big sparkler, you’re sure to dazzle the crowds. From a statement necklace to a bedazzled cuff or chandelier earrings, a great piece of jewellery will really kick your LBD up a notch.

Nail it
If your nails are in tatters and you need a fast fix try a quick-dry nail colour in a rich holiday red— most of them dry in 60 seconds flat. Use a cotton swab to clean up any colour on your cuticles and just stick with one coat if you’re in a time crunch.

She’s got legs

Take your look from day to night by slipping on a pair of sexy patterned tights. If you wear opaque for the office, then fishnets are game for night (as long as the rest of your ensemble is demure).
