Wondering how to cover up acne? Maybelline's beauty guru Grace Lee give us her best tips and tricks for camouflaging those pesky pimples.
Look to the light
"When it comes to picking the right concealer or foundation, it's all about finding the best light," says Lee. Natural sunlight will give you the most accurate sense of which colour works best for you. Try various shades near a window or better yet go outside to check the match.
The best test Brush foundations along your jawline (not the back of your hand) to check the colour. You want to make sure it blends seamlessly with both your face and your neck.
Neutralize then cover "Acne usually comes in stages," explains Lee, so you need to cover accordingly. Start with a green hue to balance out the redness of a new blemish. Then add concealer. Lee suggests using the tip of a beauty blender and stippling concealer right on top "This makes blending so simple!" she says. Finish by applying your all-over foundation or tinted moisturizer.
As your pimple heals it might turn purple. Use the same covering technique but swap out green corrector in favour of something in yellow or peach.
Let it breathe In order to heal, a blemish needs air and space to breathe. Cleanse the blemish and surrounding area as soon as you get home. Leave uncovered until just before bedtime when you can apply your spot treatment of choice.
