This season’s kitchen trends: blue’s the hue!

If your kitchen is in need of a facelift this spring, a fresh coat of colour can make all the difference! Certainly, painting the walls can bring new life to the space but painting your cabinets will be the most impressive change you can make without the expense of a full remodel.

While the trend in wood tones is moving to a safe mid-range, when it comes to paint we are seeing everything from rich jewel tones to fresh pales.  White kitchens are classic but if you’re customizing with paint, then your cabinets are a blank canvas, so dare to be adventurous with colour!

If you’re looking for a designer favourite hue for inspiration, go no further than blue. The colour of sea and sky, blue is timeless and diverse, popping up in traditional, industrial and modern styled kitchens alike.

Choosing the right paint

Kitchens are high traffic areas, so cabinets need to withstand daily wear and tear.  I recommend Benjamin Moore Advance Waterborne Interior Alkyd paint (available in a pearl, semi-gloss or high-gloss finish). It is ideal for cabinetry and trim and offers the application and performance of traditional oil paint in a waterborne formula, making it easy to clean all those household messes.

What blue would I do?
