In the Chatelaine Kitchen, we understand how frustrating it can be trying to use up leftover ingredients, which is why we publish a Loose Ends feature in all our magazine issues. We’re also happy to share our test kitchen tips with you whenever we come across them.
Speaking of which, I recently noticed that we had an open can of tomato paste in our kitchen fridge. I think we’ve all encountered a situation where we’ve used a bit of tomato paste, but then didn’t know what to do with the rest. Tomato paste doesn’t last long term in the fridge, but how about the freezer?
We place dollops of tomato paste by the tablespoon on a piece of Saran Wrap...
Twist it up, and place it in the freezer.
When it comes time to use it, the frozen paste pops right off the saran, and we don’t even have to measure it! This little trick can make a can of tomato paste go a long way.
