500 g
green beans
-
1
sweet red
bell pepper
-
1

, minced
-
1 tsp
sesame oil
-
1 tsp
vegetable oil
-
1/2 cup

Instructions
- Remove stem ends from green beans, but leave whole. Seed and thinly slice red pepper. Sauté garlic in sesame and vegetable oils in a large frying pan set over medium heat until fragrant, about 2 minutes. Add red pepper. Sauté, stirring often, for 2 minutes.
- Add green beans and water. Increase heat to medium-high and boil, uncovered and stirring often, until beans are tender-crisp, from 6 to 7 minutes. Drizzle with lemon juice and sprinkle with 1/4 teaspoon (1 mL) black pepper and a pinch of salt. Toss until mixed. Taste and add more pepper for a truly fiery taste. For a nutty flavour, sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds or sliced almonds.
