- 10 apples , preferably McIntosh
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 2 tsp vanilla
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp allspice
- Peel, core and quarter 10 apples, about 1.5 kg (McIntosh apples work well). Combine with 2 tbsp brown sugar, 1 tbsp lemon juice, 2 tsp vanilla, 1 tsp cinnamon and 1/2 tsp allspice in slow-cooker insert. Cover and cook until very soft, on high for 3 hours or on low for 4 hours. Mash coarsely with a potato masher. Serve warm, or refrigerate up to 1 week.
