Maple BBQ Sauce

This maple barbecue sauce is the ideal accompaniment to our plant-based tofu "chicken" nuggets.

- Whisk tomato paste with maple syrup, vinegar, soy, garlic and onion powders, and 1/4 cup water in a small saucepan set over medium. Cook, whisking occasionally and adjusting heat if necessary, until sauce reduces to 1/2 cup, 10 to 15 min. Stir in liquid smoke and pepper. Cool slightly, then serve with vegan nuggets.
- Liquid smoke is a natural product made from condensing smoke from burning wood into a liquid. Look for it in the condiments aisle of your grocery store.
