Dip-dye has been popping up everywhere lately from furniture to upholstery to utensils and more. I personally love the trend — it's a fun and easy-to-do treatment with stunning results. We've got several ideas on ways to decorate with dip-dyed accessories and furniture, but first, here's the step-by-step instructions on how to create the effect using flower pots. Materials you will need: - terracotta pots - acrylic paint in your choice of colours - paint brushes - thick elastic bands or painting tape - a clear sealer such as Krylon

Directions: 1. Make sure the pots are clean and dust free before you start painting. Then start by liberally painting the pots with your base colour, such as white. Click here for photo how-to. 2. Allow the paint to dry, then use a thick elastic band or painting tape to mark a line where you want the other colour to finish. Click here for photo how-to. 3. Paint a generous coat of your alternate colour. Once the paint has dried, slide off the elastic band or peel off the painting tape to reveal the new look. 4. To make sure your new paint job will last, finish off the project by spraying the entire pot (inside and out) with a clear sealer. You can use this dip-dye effect on a variety of items.
