Start the party season with a bang by setting your table with personalized vintage spoons. First, use a heavy hammer to flatten cutlery on a hard surface like cement. Then, starting with the letter that falls in the middle of your guest’s name, hammer on a metal stamp in the centre of the spoon until the imprint appears. Repeat with the remaining letters. Finally, fill in the monogram with a permanent marker to give it depth. (A little steel wool will take away any extra ink.) At the end of the night, send your party-goers home with their very own pieces of art.
You will need:
1/4 in. letter-stamp set
Black permanent marker
1. Place your spoons on a tea towel on a hard surface like cement, then flatten with a hammer.
2. Starting with a letter in the middle of your guest’s name, hammer a metal stamp in the centre of the spoon until the imprint appears. You will need to bang the stamp hard about 20 times. Repeat with remaining letters, working outward toward the edges of the spoon.
3. Once the name is complete, fill in the letters with a permanent marker to give them depth. A little steel wool will take away any extra ink.
