Help for dry summer hair

SOS Humid summer hair

Make waves

Don’t fight your hair’s natural body in humid weather. When there’s a lot of moisture in the air you need to work with what you have — whether you like it or not. So how do you keep it looking controlled and not crazy? Try a wave-making spray. This one has hydrolyzed silk and ProVitamin B5 to provide shine and moisture. It plumps up the curls you already have with a slight wave for an amped up version of the bed head look.

Fight flatness

No one wants flat, greasy looking locks come steamy summer nights. While many products can weigh down hair and make it sticky and stiff, we’ve found a hairspray that gives you a lift without having to pile on product. When you’ve created your style for the night , give your dry hair a few spritzes and work your strands with your fingers to create volume. It also has a humidity shield — which is key — to help keep out the moisture that can put a damper on your look.

Nourish locks

From swimming to lying out in the sun, your hair takes a beating in the summer months. A leave-in conditioner is a must this season. Look for one with rich oils to give your dehydrated locks a special treat. This one has organic grape seed and olive oil plus UV protection to keep locks glossy and protected from UVA and UVB rays that can alter your colour. Spritz it under your swim cap before doing laps or apply it before heading to the beach.

Curls for girls

Forgo your traditional hot rollers and try a new tool sans heat to get soft waves and curls. Starting from the middle of the hair down clip these into your locks. Click it closed and blast your head with a hair dryer or let air dry. For average length locks you’ll only need about six to eight of them. These clips can also be used on larger sections to get a retro wave.

Repair hair

Fix past damage and lather up with the scents of the tropics. If your hair is colour treated or you’ve been frying it with heat styling tools, you’ll need to add some hydration to your mane around this time of year. This formula uses papaya oil, rich in amino acids, which also help remove grime without over-stripping. Plus, the smell brings us beachside whether we’re near the waves or not.

Summer style

If you want to create an updo, look no further than some subtle hair accessories. Instead of fighting your hair’s inclination to go wild, braid it, twist it or wear it in a ponytail. Gather hair into a ponytail, twist it into a bun and secure it with one of these style-holding spin pins. Release it and get easy waves and body or keep your updo all night long.

Mask it

If you’re constantly highlighting or dyeing your hair you’ll want to make sure you seal in your colour. To get radiant shine and prevent your shade from fading try a leave-in hair mask. This one, enriched with organic essence of Açai and Fire Tulip is chock full of vitamins and proteins. The formulas are also biodegradable so you don’t have to worry about damaging the environment.
