One of my favourite tools in the kitchen is the blender. I’m a firm believer in getting as much use as possible out of kitchen appliances, but recently, I’ve been stuck in a rut with my blender. Most of the time I’ll make a smoothie, but I’ve learned that there are so many other ways you can use this handy appliance. Here are five ways to get more use out of your blender:

1. Homemade condiments

Put your blender to good use and spend an afternoon stocking your kitchen with a few homemade condiments! Start off with a creamy Caesar dressing, a homemade Thai curry paste or some homemade hot sauce.

2. Healthy snacks

I’m always looking for healthy snacks, and recently I’ve been making our flavoured yogurts in my blender. From sweet potato to avocado, you’ll be hooked from first bite.

3. Sorbet

I’ve started using my blender to puree fruits for refreshing sorbets. My favourite of the moment is this refreshing tropical sorbet.

4. Breakfast

Get ready to elevate your weekend brunch by making the ultimate crepe batter in your blender. If you really want to impress your friends, poach a couple of eggs and blend up a quick Hollandaise to pour over top.

5. Quick marinades

It’s so easy to whirl up a quick marinade. Marinades are especially handy for the warmer months as they add a ton of flavour to grilled meats and vegetables. Try Anju’s marinated rib-eye steak or Tandoori lamb pops.
