Hot & sour green beans recipe
These green beans are finished on the grill to add a little char before being dressed with a kicky, umami-laden sauce.
500 g green beans, trimmed
1/2 tsp salt
4 tsp balsamic vinegar
4 tsp oyster sauce
1/4 tsp hot-red-chili-flakes
PREHEAT barbecue to medium.
BOIL a large saucepan of water. Add beans and salt. Boil 2 min. Drain and rinse beans with cold running water. Pat dry.
OIL grill. Barbecue beans on the grill at a right angle (so they won't fall through the grill), turning often with tongs, until charred and tender crisp, about 5 min.
WHISK vinegar with oyster sauce and chili flakes in a bowl. Add beans and toss until coated.
