Mandarin Sting

Ryan Magarin, mix-master at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler, shares how to shake up this sweet, spicy sipper.

Ingredients

  • granulated sugar

  • 1/2 in. piece serrano chili

  • 3 tbsp Absolut Mandarin vodka

  • 4 1/2 tsp lemon juice

  • 1 tbsp orange juice

  • 1 tbsp cranberry juice

  • 1 tbsp simple syrup*

Instructions

  • Chill a martini glass in the freezer. Remove and thaw until frosty, about 30 sec. Press part of glass into a bowl of granulated sugar to create a sugar coating.

  • Muddle chili in a cocktail shaker. Add vodka, juices and syrup and a handful of ice. Cover and shake for 10 sec.

  • Strain mixture into glass.
