Grapefuit Brûlé

Impress guests (while serving them a healthy dose of antioxidants and fibre) with warm grapefruit halves topped with caramelized brown sugar.

Ingredients

  • 2 grapefruits

  • 8 tsp dark brown sugar

Instructions

  • CUT grapefruits in half, crosswise. Cut a very thin slice off the bottom of each half so it sits flat. Arrange on a baking sheet.

  • SPRINKLE 2 tsp sugar evenly over each half.

  • CARAMELIZE the sugar with a kitchen blowtorch by keeping the flame close to the sugar, using a sweeping motion. Melt sugar, then let stand until sugar cools slightly.
