Who are you: Alex Laws, Associate Editor, Lifestyle

What was your kindness deed: Writing letters with hand-made cards to brighten people’s days

Why did you want to do this: Living over the Atlantic I find I spend a lot of time waiting for the right moment to contact someone. I decided to post a letter, even if it was just a few lines long, to some of the people I know who are going through difficult times to let them know they were in my thoughts.

How did it make you feel: It brightened my day too, to imagine friends I haven’t spoken to for months opening my envelope and reading my message. I also really enjoyed taking a few moments out of my day to be creative – I wrote funny phrases in calligraphy, drew quick illustrations and decorated the envelopes with vintage stamps.
