Neptune Oyster is a quaint restaurant serving up all sorts of fresh seafood. My friends and I feasted on Maine lobster with hot butter, fried Ipswich clams, raw scallop salad and of course, their famed oyster selection.
My second day in Boston prompted a visit to Quincy Market - otherwise known as Boston's most glorious food court. And glorious it is - rows of stalls serving up everything from Thai food to lobster rolls. In fact, I counted about four stalls serving different types of lobster rolls! So of course, after careful deliberation of all my lobster choices (more mayo or less mayo? On bread or no bread?), I decided on a lobster roll from Boston Chowda with a side of their "award winning" clam chowder. I know it's food court fare, but eating it while sitting on the cobble stoned streets watching the world go by truly did not disappoint.
To top off two well-fed days, we visited the place where everyone knows your name for a pint of Boston's finest. (And just for the record - they neither knew nor asked for our names). Cheers!
To plan a seafood fiesta in your own home, check out some of these recipes:
-Do like the Bostonians and whip up a delicious lobster salad to serve on bread rolls or mixed greens. Serve it with a side of clam chowder.
-For a lighter seafood fare, try seared scallops on wilted greens or for a little decadence, please your guests with a crab bisque or creamy lobster crepes.
-Serve up seafood tapas with a variety of dishes like shrimp with mango cocktail sauce, classic crab cakes or grilled oysters. If you're feeling especially sassy, kick it up a few notches with some welcome Spanish oyster shooters.
