Designer, author and TV personality Nate Berkus recently talked to Chatelaine about his new (and totally awesome) collection for Target. He’s a master of combining sentiment and style, and says, “the smartest thing you can do is buy things that speak to you because sometimes they don’t work in that room like you pictured. But if you love them they’ll work somewhere in your home, just maybe not where you intended.”
As you can see in Nate's New York apartment living room, he applies this design philosophy seamlessly to create a personalized and eclectic look. It features antique French shelving units, an antique desk and white oak herringbone floors.
A continuing theme in Nate's designs is making an existing kitchen work. Here, he painted old cabinets glossy black and created an island with a free-standing marble topped shelving unit.

The cactus skeletons and Madeline Weinrib striped rug can be seen in some of Nate’s other lofts as well. We love the asymmetrical art grouping and that he found a great spot for a treasured green pineapple.
