How to prevent colds + flus
  • Wash your hands frequently to kill germs
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth—germs are passed easily through the mucous around these areas
  • Get a flu shot yearly (flus only)
  • Maintain a strong immune system by eating well and exercising regularly
  • Eliminate or at least cut down on sugar, caffeine, alcohol and fat during cold season—they suppress certain immune functions
  • Drink six to eight glasses of water every day
  • Minimize contact with people who have colds
  • Don’t share silverware or beverages with people who have colds
  • Don’t smoke
